35 active wildfires have been recorded in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug

In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, 995 natural fires were recorded during the fire season.

As of September 23, there are 35 wildfires in the district, the total area covered by fire is 5129 hectares.

EKATERINBURG, September 23 – RIA Novosti. More than 30 natural fires are being extinguished in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the region’s civil protection department reported.

On July 30, a state of emergency was introduced in Yamal due to forest fires. According to authorities, the fires were caused by an abnormally hot and dry summer, with most fires sparked by lightning during dry thunderstorms. On September 7, Governor Dmitry Artyukhov informed that all forest fires in the region had been extinguished, noting that such a difficult season had not occurred in Yamal for about 14 years.

“As of September 23, there are 35 natural fires in the district in the Purovsky, Nadymsky, Krasnoselkupsky districts. The total area covered by the fire is 5129 hectares,” the department said in a statement on the Telegram channel.
