A suspect was arrested for planning to bomb a military facility in Crimea

The security authority stated in an official statement that it had arrested the main suspect involved in the operation under direct instructions from Ukrainian intelligence, a Russian citizen born in 1992, who was arrested in the city of Simferopol.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused was recruited through the encrypted communication application “Signal” by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

According to the statement, the tasks assigned to the accused included providing the Ukrainian side with accurate intelligence information about the political and social conditions on the peninsula, monitoring the locations of the deployment of the Russian armed forces, in addition to evaluating and submitting reports on the results of the Ukrainian missile strikes, leading to planning to bomb the medical facility of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The security raid on the suspect’s residence resulted in the seizure and confiscation of a hand-made incendiary device prepared for detonation, and a hand grenade with fragments. Based on these data, the Investigation Department in Crimea and Sevastopol initiated procedures to prosecute the accused under the terms of high treason, preparation for a terrorist act, and illegal trafficking in explosives, where a judicial order was issued to place him in pretrial detention pending the case.
