In terms of ensuring flood control safety. In response to the severe situation of frequent river floods and concurrent north-south floods, 9,228 (times) large and medium-sized reservoirs were put into operation, preventing 998 rivers from exceeding warning floods and 49 rivers from the largest floods since measured data were available. The reservoirs effectively blocked 137.5 billion cubic meters of flood water was stored, 1,165 towns were reduced from flooding, 10.65 million acres of crops were reduced, and 5.81 million people were prevented from moving. In ensuring water supply safety. We completed the construction of 2012 rural water supply projects, strengthened the construction and management of small rural water supply projects, and improved the water supply security level for the 30.24 million rural population. It is predicted that by the end of this year, the penetration rate of tap water in rural areas will reach 97%.

in ensuring food security. The construction of 5 large-scale irrigation areas was started, and 109 large and medium-sized irrigation areas were modernized. Since the beginning of this year, the cumulative irrigation water supply has reached nearly 200 billion cubic meters, and the irrigated area has exceeded 750 million acres. Summer grain production on the irrigated cultivated land accounts for 88% of the country’s total summer grain production. It is predicted that the irrigation water demand for autumn crops such as late rice and overwintering crops such as winter wheat will be about 70 billion cubic meters. in ensuring ecological security. We will vigorously revitalize the ecological environment of rivers and lakes, consolidate the effectiveness of the management of 88 restored rivers and lakes, and launch the second batch of 111 mother river restoration actions to restore life to more and more rivers and rejuvenate their watersheds.
