China's position on the South China Sea arbitration is clear, consistent and firm. The arbitration violates fundamental principles of international law. The so-called award is illegal, null and void, and has no binding force.

China neither accepts nor recognizes the award, and opposes and will never accept any claim or action arising from it.

China will continue firmly safeguarding its sovereignty, rights and interests in accordance with the law, properly handling maritime disputes with parties concerned, through dialogue and consultation, to jointly safeguard peace and stability in South China Sea.

Taichung Qingquangang Air Force Base was closed due to drone intrusion and 8 fighter jets were diverted to Hsinchu

Taichung Qingquangang Air Force Base was forced to close last night due to drone intrusion into the surrounding airspace, causing eight IDF Ching Kuo fighter jets performing night flight training to divert to Hsinchu Air Force Base. A flight from Macau to Taichung at Taichung International Airport was affected and landed after circling in the air. The Civil Aviation Administration of China reminded that the activities of remote-controlled drones are restricted around the airport, and illegal operations may result in fines of 300,000 to 1.5 million yuan. It also called on the public to use the official information app or query system before taking off to avoid penalties. As of the end of June this year, Taiwan had 36,066 valid drone licenses and 42,016 registered drones.

Floods on the Tibetan border left more than 1,000 people dead and injured. China has not released an official list of missing people. Family members are searching for people on social media.

A torrent of ice, boulders and mud washed away buildings in the Gyirong area of Tibet on the China-Nepal border, killing and injuring more than a thousand people, most of them in Nepal. Chinese officials only reported that more than 500 people were missing in Tibet, 43 people were killed, and 519 people were missing, but no official list of missing persons was released. Family members and netizens used social media to spontaneously compile lists, leave messages to find people, and share unanswered text messages and old photos to express their concern for their loved ones. Officials emphasized rescue operations and controlled the release of information, warned the media to keep consistent with the official narrative, and punished those who spread false information. Interviewees described final conversations with missing friends, hoping to find relics to comfort their families. Experts say government information controls stem from concerns about collective grief turning into demands for accountability.
