A Russian drone attack on a border post between Ukraine and Moldova left people dead and injured “during the night”, Ukrainian border guards said, without providing numbers at this stage.

The border crossing was damaged and its activity was suspended, the Ukrainian Border Guard Service further clarified, indicating that the Moldovan authorities had been informed of this attack.

Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Norway on Tuesday for the funeral of King Harald V on Wednesday and talks with the Norwegian government on air defense issues. The Ukrainian president will meet Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre this evening.

“We will discuss continued support for Ukraine. The main issue is strengthening air defense and helping in other important areas to get through the winter,” Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on social media.

Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump spoke on Tuesday with “extreme frankness” about the conflict in Ukraine during an hour-long telephone conversation, the Kremlin announced. The meeting came after Washington envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow and kyiv over the weekend.

On the phone, the American and Russian leaders “focused on the question of a settlement in Ukraine,” explained Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin’s diplomatic adviser. Donald Trump called for a rapid end to military operations, he noted, while his Russian counterpart presented an “objective and detailed analysis” of the situation on the front.

Vladimir Putin also “underlined what the Americans could realistically do to quickly end hostilities” and assured that his country had “no aggressive plans” against Europe.
