Iran attacks US bases in Jordan and ships in the Gulf

The Revolutionary Guards, Iran's ideological army, said on Wednesday they had attacked a United States military base in Jordan, in response to American strikes against Iranian oil tankers.

The attack in Jordan, intended to “punish the aggressor”, notably damaged “the places of deployment of F-35, F-16 and F-15 fighter planes, as well as the shelters for combat planes” of the American base of Al-Azraq, 100 km east of Amman, they said, cited by the official Irna agency. The Jordanian military said twenty Iranian missiles were fired into the country, of which 18 were intercepted and two fell in deserted areas.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Wednesday they had attacked two American boats, eight tankers and ten other ships, in response to American strikes targeting five Iranian tankers in the Gulf on Tuesday.

“In response to the aggression and hostile actions of the American terrorist army, which attacked five Iranian oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, the courageous navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted two American ships and eight oil tankers present in the area, inflicting considerable damage on them,” the guards said in a statement relayed by the official IRNA news agency. Ten other ships were also targeted, it added.
