Trump expects Canada to propose eliminating all tariffs within three to four weeks

US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that the Canadian authorities will turn to Washington within the next three to four weeks with a proposal to completely eliminate all trade duties.

Trump said he expects Canada to admit mistakes and reach a fair new deal.

"I think what's going to happen in the next three or four weeks is that they (Canada - ed.) will come to us and say, 'We're going to eliminate all the tariffs.'

Trade relations between the United States and Canada are going through a period of bitter confrontation. After Washington imposed large-scale tariffs on Canadian imports, Ottawa responded by imposing mirror taxes on tens of billions of dollars of American goods, affecting steel, dairy products and agricultural machinery.
