The Israeli ambassador shows the Starlink device to the Iranian diplomat at the United Nations

This provocation came from the Israeli ambassador to the Iranian diplomat following a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.

Scenes circulated showed Danon going to the Iranian diplomat and showing him the device, which Netanyahu had carried during his speech, while the diplomat avoided looking at it and did not receive the device.

Danon told the Iranian diplomat that the device could help Iranians access the Internet, before asking him if he wanted to take it and return it to Tehran, adding that Israel "loves the Iranian people" and that it hopes for a change in the Iranian regime.

Netanyahu had presented the “Starlink” device during his speech before the General Assembly, saying that the device provides access to the Internet and freedom of expression, and indicated that he would leave it with the United Nations to deliver it to the Iranian delegation. During the speech, he also spoke about the possibility of political change in Iran, saying that the Iranian people "will become free in the future."

This incident came in the context of Netanyahu's speech, which focused extensively on Iran, in addition to other issues, at a time when New York is witnessing communications and diplomatic positions related to the war between the United States and Iran and efforts to discuss ending it.

On the other hand, Iran said in statements reported by Reuters this week that it is ready to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States eases military pressure and lifts the blockade on Iranian ports, stressing the readiness of its delegation in New York to participate in a diplomatic track through mediators.
