The Irkutsk Aviation Plant is mastering the painting of civil aircraft.

From the beginning of 2027, the plant plans to begin painting serial MC-21s.

IRKUTSK, September 28 – RIA Novosti. The Irkutsk Aviation Plant (part of the United Aircraft Corporation Rostec) is mastering the painting of civil aircraft, and from the beginning of 2027 it is planned to begin painting serial MC-21s, said Andrey Soynov, general director of the plant.

“We are mastering a new competency in civil engineering. We are planning to switch to painting aircraft here in Irkutsk... Before this, it was assumed that all aircraft (both Superjet and MC-21) were painted in Ulyanovsk, by the Spektr-Avia company. We are planning to bring this volume to the Irkutsk plant... I think this is the beginning of the 27th year,” Soynov told reporters.

Aircraft painting has already been tested on the An-24 aircraft of the IrAero airline, Soynov noted. In addition, there are agreements to paint another IrAero aircraft, as well as an experimental import-substituted Superjet.
