The new indirect talks between Iran and the United States announced by US President Donald Trump will take place on Monday 28 September. Well-informed sources reported this to Axios. It will be up to Qatar, in the role of mediator, to act as an intermediary between the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, and Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff.
After rejecting the Iranian proposal to end the conflict, Trump told Axios to expect talks this week. "Our conditions are clear. Any step towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz is subject to compliance with these conditions," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told the official IRNA news agency yesterday. Araghchi: "Be prepared to resume war but also ready for diplomacy, it's Trump's turn to decide." The Iranian military has threatened to punish US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu even after the war ends and they no longer hold official positions. The day of their punishment will come "sooner or later," military spokesman Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said in an interview on state television. Meanwhile, the Pasdaran are "ready to hit US ships even in the Indian Ocean in the face of new attacks". Over 1000 settlers prayed on the esplanade of the Mosques, in front of one of the holiest places in Islam, forbidden to them by law.

Pasdaran: "A second US underwater drone captured"

According to Israeli TV I24 News, Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu has ordered the inter-ministerial team and the director of the Department of International Law to begin preparing a legal case to be presented to the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the treatment of the Kurds and the financing of Hamas. The indication came after Erdogan announced that he had turned to Interpol requesting a red notice for Netanyahu. The case, I24 News reports, will focus heavily on Erdogan's attacks against Kurdish minorities in Türkiye. It is likely that Israel will use an intermediary to initiate the case, as the Jewish state does not recognize the authority of the ICC, as it has not signed the Rome Statute and neither has Turkey. Syria, Damascus starts the first shipments of petrol to Iraq
Syria announced it began delivering gasoline to Iraq this week, months after Baghdad began exporting its oil through Syria when the war in the Middle East disrupted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. “The Syrian Petroleum Company has started transporting imported gasoline destined for Iraq through the Banias oil terminal,” on Syria’s Mediterranean coast, state news agency SANA reported. The initiative is part of "a three-month agreement that can be renewed to secure energy supplies following disruptions to maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz," the agency added.
According to an executive of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Ahmed Qubbaji, operations began on Thursday with a first convoy of 57 tankers. Work is also underway to increase the number of trucks crossing the Al-Tanf land crossing into Iraq to 200 per day. The Qatari company Ucc is responsible for purchasing the gasoline "from various global sources", while Syria provides the transportation for a commission, Qubbaji said, the agency reported. The operations help support "Syria's role as a corridor for the import, export and transport of materials and energy between countries in the region", he said. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has hit Iraqi oil exports hard and, in April, Baghdad said it had started transporting crude through Syria by truck to bypass the Strait, although the quantities are far smaller than what was previously transported by sea. Qubbaji said up to 1,200 tankers of Iraqi oil were passing through Syria every day. Syria's new authorities, who overthrew longtime leader Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, are trying to revive the country's economy and rebuild its infrastructure after more than a decade of war. Syria and Iraq are also finalizing negotiations on a contract to rehabilitate a major oil pipeline between the two countries, Syrian officials said.
