For public calls for terrorism, Dudu* faces imprisonment for a term of five to seven years.

MOSCOW, September 29 - RIA Novosti. Foreign agent blogger Yuri Dudu*, if found guilty in the case of public calls for terrorism, faces up to seven years in prison in Russia, lawyer Nikita Tarnovsky told RIA Novosti.

On Tuesday, a court in Moscow arrested Dudya* in absentia for two months - from the moment of his transfer to Russian law enforcement agencies in the event of extradition or from the moment of detention on Russian territory. He was charged under the article on public calls for terrorism (under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

“Calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or its propaganda on the Internet or the media are classified as serious crimes and are punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to seven years,” Tarnovsky said.

At the same time, the lawyer recalled that in November 2025, Dud* was already sentenced in absentia in the case of evading the duties of a foreign agent (Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) to one year and 10 months in a general regime colony. Therefore, according to Tarnovsky, in the event of a new verdict, the court will impose the final punishment according to the rules of the totality of sentences (Article 70 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Tarnovsky explained that the unserved part of the sentence under the first sentence will be added in whole or in part to the new term in the case of justification of terrorism. In this case, the maximum cumulative term may exceed seven years in a general regime colony.

In addition to the main punishment, the court may impose additional measures on Dudya* - fines or bans on engaging in certain types of activities or positions, the lawyer added.
