Trump assures that $5,000 dividend pledge will be fulfilled despite criticism from opposition party and media

U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized on the 11th (local time) that his pledge to pay dividends of $5,000 (approximately 6.71 million won) per American adult will definitely be realized and urged people to vote for the ruling Republican Party in the midterm elections.

“Due to the fact that our country is generating trillions of dollars in economic development, investment, and sheer success, the $5,000 Trump dividend to every adult in America will come true, despite criticism from ‘Dumb Democrats’ (a portmanteau of ‘Democrats’ and ‘Dumb’) who hope this policy will never come true,” President Trump wrote on the social media site TruthSocial on this day.

He then cited the passage of a large-scale tax cut bill that he pushed for last year and the payment of $1,776 as a special dividend to U.S. soldiers, representing the year of the founding of the United States (1776), as examples of success in overcoming opposition from the opposition party.

President Trump then emphasized, "When I say something, I mean it. The $5,000 dividend will come true because the American people deserve it," and urged them to "vote Republican."

President Trump announced this pledge in a keynote speech on the 9th, the first day of the Republican midterm election convention held in Dallas, Texas.

Democratic politicians fiercely criticized this, saying, "Trump wants to buy your votes with bloody money raised by taxpayers' money" (California Governor Gavin Newsom) and "It is corrupt and blatantly illegal" (Democratic Representative Dan Goldman).

The U.S. media also criticized this pledge, which requires 1.2 trillion dollars (approximately 1,616 trillion won) in financial resources, as it could lead to rising prices, worsening inflation, and increasing national debt, while predicting that it may not be realized like past promises to return federal budget savings or customs revenue as dividends.
