Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Five North Korean Provinces Committee held an event to invite overseas North Korean residents visiting their homeland.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Five North Korean Provinces Committee announced on the 13th that it will hold an 'event to invite overseas North Korean residents to their homeland' from the 14th to the 18th.

The visiting team consisted of 44 people, including Kim Seon-sook (87), a first-generation North Korean citizen from Deogyang-gun, South Pyongan Province, and Choi Tae-seok (62), from Samsu-gun, South Hamgyong Province, who leads the next-generation Korean community in the United States.

By country, there are 27 from the United States, 10 from Canada, 3 from Australia, 2 from Germany, and 1 each from Argentina and New Zealand.

The visiting group will begin with a visit to the Seoul National Cemetery, meet three generations of displaced people in the border area, and experience industrial sites such as the Hyundai Motor Studio.

The event for North Korean residents to visit their homeland began in 1996 to strengthen friendship and solidarity between North Korean residents at home and abroad and to inspire pride in their homeland, and a total of 4,670 people were invited as of last year.
