The Kremlin: Putin and To Lam discuss strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam

The Kremlin media office said in a statement published on Friday that the two leaders will discuss the status of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam and the prospects for its development.

The statement explained that trade, economic, scientific and educational relations, humanitarian exchanges, and cooperation in the fields of security and defense will be among the most prominent topics that will be included in the two presidents’ talks, and they will also exchange views on current international and regional issues.

The talks are scheduled to culminate in the adoption of a package of bilateral documents between the two countries.

It is noteworthy that the last meeting between Putin and Tu Lam, in his capacity as leader of the Vietnamese Communist Party at the time, took place in Moscow in May 2025, where they held talks and issued a joint statement on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In April this year, Tu Lam, who still heads the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, was elected president of the country for a presidential term that extends until 2031.
