Four people aged 16 to 22 arrested on suspicion of attempted theft in Haneda Airport multi-storey parking lot attack

In connection with the attack on a group of four people carrying approximately 190 million yen in cash in a multi-story parking lot at Haneda Airport (Ota Ward, Tokyo), the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Organized Crime Control Division has arrested four people aged 16 to 22, including Yoshito Koyama (20), who is believed to be the leader, and whose address and occupation are unknown, on suspicion of another theft attempt that occurred about two minutes earlier. He has not made it clear whether he approves or disapproves.

Both incidents occurred on the third floor of the same multi-storey parking lot, and the division suspects that Koyama and his group were aiming at a group of four people, but mistook the ``target'' and attacked an unrelated man, and are looking into the circumstances.

Also arrested were Yozuki Sugamori (22), Yakushidai, Machida City, Tokyo, Taiga Kurihara (20), Morino, both suspects, and a juvenile (16), both of whom have unknown occupations.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempting to steal two Boston bags containing computers and other items belonging to a man in his 20s in the early hours of January 30th.

According to the department, a group of four people was attacked immediately afterward, but nothing was taken. Two of the four traveled to Hong Kong after being attacked, and about 51 million yen in cash was stolen there. One of them was arrested along with another man by local police and later charged.

Approximately two and a half hours before the Haneda incident, a suitcase containing approximately 420 million yen in cash was stolen from a street in Higashiueno, Taito Ward. Jinryu Kano (21), a member of the Yamaguchi-gumi-affiliated organized crime group, who is believed to have been in charge of directing the incident, and others were arrested and charged.

The victims in the Haneda and Taito Ward incidents were said to have been transporting cash obtained from gold transactions to Hong Kong, and the division is also investigating whether the two incidents are related.
