Even during the Chuseok holiday, which is shorter than last year, the tourism industry in North Chungcheong Province is booming, with most air tickets departing from Cheongju Airport sold out and accommodations at major tourist destinations running out.

According to Aero K, an airline based at Cheongju International Airport on the 22nd, the international flight reservation rate during this Chuseok holiday period (24th to 27th) is close to 80%.

Due to the shortened Chuseok holiday, demand appears to be concentrated on short-distance routes with flight times of about 1 to 2 hours rather than medium-distance routes.

In particular, reservations were concentrated in Okinawa, Japan, and Taipei, Taiwan, which are convenient for family tourists.

The airline explains that the reservation rate for flights to Jeju is at 90% and almost full seats.

An Aero K official said, "Although the number of holidays has decreased by half compared to last year, there is still a lot of demand to enjoy travel without burden. Reservations are increasing right up to departure, so the boarding rate is expected to increase."

Korea Airports Corporation's Cheongju branch predicted that 524 flights would operate at Cheongju Airport during the Chuseok holiday and that about 80,000 passengers would use it.

Compared to last year's Chuseok holiday period, the average daily number of travelers is expected to increase by 12.7% for international flights and 6.4% for domestic flights, respectively.

Major lodging facilities in the province are also enjoying special offers during Chuseok.

Jecheon Resom Forest (about 450 rooms), which operates on a membership system, is fully booked 3 to 4 months in advance, and Sono Mundanyang (about 400 rooms) has only a small number of rooms left on the 25th.

It is difficult to find vacant rooms at Jeungpyeong Belforet Resort and Jecheon Cheongpung Resort (170-230 rooms), which are available to non-members, although the situation varies depending on the day.

In addition to large resorts, small and medium-sized lodging establishments such as pensions and glamping sites are also working hard to welcome guests by offering a variety of Chuseok events for their guests.

An official at a glamping site in Chungju explained, “During the holiday season, reservations usually close a month in advance,” and “We are preparing folk play events so that all guests who come to the glamping site can hang out together.”

An owner of a pension in Chungju said, “Even on the weekend before the holidays, all the rooms were full due to the influx of travelers. Although there is still some time during the holidays, I plan to show off the holiday spirit by sharing homemade songpyeon.”

Rooms at 22 natural recreation forests in the province, where you can enjoy leisure in nature, are also fully booked.

Local governments in the province are also extending the operating hours of tourist facilities and preparing various programs to keep up with the increasing demand for tourism.

Mancheonha Skywalk, a landmark in Danyang, operates as normal during the Chuseok holiday, and Jecheon Uirim Local History Museum also welcomes returning visitors by operating traditional play experience programs for four days of the holiday, excluding the day of Chuseok.

Danyang Danuri Aquarium held a feeding demonstration by an aquarist wearing hanbok at 3 p.m. on the 25th and 26th.

An official from North Chungcheong Province said, "We are actively promoting major tourist attractions worth visiting during the Chuseok holiday through social networking services (SNS), etc.," and added, "We will make Chungbuk a place they want to visit again by providing good memories to returning travelers and visitors."
