Incheon International Airport Corporation implements special traffic measures to prepare for terminal congestion

(Incheon = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sang-yeon = Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 22nd that 1.14 million passengers, equivalent to an average of 228,000 people per day, are scheduled to use Incheon Airport during the Chuseok holiday from the 23rd to the 27th.

The days on which the largest number of users are expected to be will be the 24th (131,999 people) for departure from the airport and the 27th (139,695 people) for arrival.

The day on which the total number of passengers combined for departure and arrival is expected to be the highest is the 27th (247,018), which is 7.9% more than the highest number of passengers per day during last year's Chuseok holiday, which was 228,846.

Considering that demand for overseas travel among Koreans has recently been concentrated during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, the corporation decided to implement special transportation measures, including passenger flow management.

First, to prepare for the demand for departure, we will expand the number of airlines that use self-check-in and self-bag drop, and operate security screening personnel and equipment at the maximum level.

Major departure halls will open 30 minutes earlier in consultation with the Ministry of Justice, and crowds will be managed based on passenger forecast information that predicts congestion by departure hall and time slot.

Real-time departure hall waiting time information has been expanded from the existing Passenger Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, and can also be checked on major portal sites.

As a measure against parking lot congestion, a total of 1,767 spaces will be secured by utilizing the 2nd joint building and temporary parking lot near the short-term parking lot of Terminal 2.
