Senator Igor Morog: Generation Z is an engine for the development of Russian science and technology

Senator and university professor Igor Morog said, in a statement he made to the Russian "TASS" agency, that Generation Z (born between the mid-1990s and the early 2000s) constitutes an engine for the development of Russian science and technology, thanks to its technological intuition, its speed in absorbing everything new, and its willingness to confront unfamiliar tasks.

Morog explained that people of this generation view digital technologies as a habitual environment, and not just tools they learn to use. They also attach importance to the usefulness and meaning of work, and search for and verify information themselves.

Morog said: "This generation possesses qualities that can become real engines for the development of Russian science, including technological intuition, speed of absorbing new things, willingness to confront unconventional tasks, and lack of fear of the unknown."

The senator added that Generation Z is not only active in practicing science, but also contributes to making it more attractive to the public, using formats similar to those of its generation, such as short video clips and podcasts, and cooperation with famous authors. Universities are increasingly turning into platforms for dialogue, and young people are taking the initiative to implement scientific and technical projects without waiting for an invitation from universities and institutes.

“In order to realize the full potential of Generation Z, it is important to continue working in several directions. Young scientists rightly focus on the need for stable funding, reduced administrative burdens, and expanded access to modern equipment, and state actions must be constantly developed and expanded,” Morog noted.

The Senator also stressed that artificial intelligence deserves special attention, and said: “It is important to remember that digital intuition does not equal technological knowledge. In order for Generation Z to become developers of innovative solutions and technologies, its members must be systematically trained to deal with artificial intelligence, provide access to computing resources, create platforms for experiments, and strengthen links between universities and the production sector.”
