Najaf International Airport announces the suspension of all flights with Iran

Najaf International Airport in Iraq announced, on Friday, that all incoming and outgoing flights to and from Iran have been stopped, and this comes as part of the tough US sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

The Najaf Airport Administration said in a statement: “We kindly ask you to be informed that, based on the official directives issued by the competent authorities, it has been decided to stop all incoming and outgoing flights to and from the Islamic Republic of Iran, as of 02:00 on Friday, corresponding to 9/25/2026, until further notice,” according to what was reported by the official Iraqi “Ina” news agency.

The statement added: “Please take the necessary measures and inform the airlines and relevant operational authorities, and do not take any operational measures regarding the flights included in the directive during the suspension period,” according to the “INA” agency.

The airport continued: “You will be officially notified of any subsequent developments or directives regarding the resumption of flights.”

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority announced, on Thursday, the suspension of Iranian airline flights to and from the country, starting Thursday, in accordance with the US ban imposed on those companies, according to what was reported by the official Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The authority said that “Iranian airline flights to and from the country have been suspended, starting today (Thursday), corresponding to September 24, until further notice.”
