Hyogo Prefectural Police begin investigation after damaged body of man found in apartment freezer

Hyogo Prefectural Police announced on the 20th that the body of an adult male was found in an apartment room at 6-chome Nakayamate-dori, Chuo-ku, Kobe City.

The body was found in a freezer and was in a decomposed state. Prefectural police have begun an investigation, suspecting that the body was damaged or abandoned.

According to the Ikuta Police Station, the management company received a call from a resident of the apartment complex about a strange odor and made a similar report to the police station around 3:15 p.m. on the 19th.

However, when the police arrived, the front door was locked, so they were unable to check inside.

After going through the necessary procedures, police officers entered the room around 12:20 p.m. on the 20th and found a large freezer near the entrance, and found the body inside. The body was said to have been mutilated and decomposed.

Prefectural police are investigating the identity of the body and the cause of death.

The scene is a residential area about 700 meters northwest of JR Motomachi Station.
