Taipei City Shuiyuan Road Shooting Case: Husband instigated mistress to shoot wife, female gunman arrested

A shooting occurred on Shuiyuan Road in Taipei City on the 11th. A 50-year-old woman surnamed Zhao was ambushed and shot in the abdomen by gunmen after she went out. Fortunately, she survived. The police traced that her husband Chen Zhicheng instigated his mistress Yi Wuzhen to shoot his wife. Two people were arrested one after another. Chen Nan was taken into custody late last night. Yi Nu was transferred by the police to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office at 11 a.m. for further questioning. It is expected that she will also be taken into custody.

Yi Nu is the first female gunman in the history of domestic security. The special case team traced her whereabouts and arrested the female gunman Yi Wanzhen yesterday.

After investigation, it was found that Yi Nu and Chen Nan were having an extramarital affair. Yi Nu was afraid of losing Chen Nan's financial care, so she agreed to commit the crime. Chen Nan was first transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office yesterday. After the prosecutor resumed the interrogation, he applied to the court for a detention ban. The Taipei District Court judge made the decision at about 11 o'clock last night.

The victim, Ms. Zhao, returned to her residence on Shuiyuan Road at about 2 pm on the 11th. When she walked to a nearby alley, she was shot twice by a gunman wearing a black down jacket, a ball cap and a mask. One of the shots hit Ms. Zhao in the abdomen. She was out of danger after being sent to the hospital for emergency treatment, and her life was not in danger.

The prosecutor's task force investigated and found out that Chen and Zhao were separated due to a relationship dispute. The police initially identified Chen as a serious suspect and found out that the pickup vehicle was under Chen's name. Then based on the victim's description and analysis, as well as the gunman's walking and other postures captured on the surveillance camera, they determined that the gunman was a woman. After committing the crime, he fled in the direction of the new store.

Five hours after the incident, the police arrested Mr. Chen at the Tai'an rest stop on the national highway. They also learned that the female gunman got off at the Jing'an Station of the Zhonghe MRT in New Taipei City, disguised herself, took the MRT, and hid in Sanchong District, New Taipei City.

At 10 a.m. yesterday, the police went to Sanchang to arrest Yi Nu and recovered the gun and 10 bullets from the parking lot of her and Chen Nan's rental apartment. After police inquiries, she was transferred to the Beijing Prosecutor's Office for retrial on charges of attempted murder and firearms charges.
