Production of machinery and equipment in the Moscow region increased by 61.5%

MOSCOW, September 25 - RIA Novosti. The production of machinery and equipment not included in other OKVED groups increased by 61.5% in the eight months of 2026 compared to the same period last year, said Ekaterina Zinovieva, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government - Minister of Investment, Industry and Science of the region.

“Mechanical engineering is a key pillar of industry in the Moscow region and one of the most extensive industries. All its main areas are represented in the region, and the basis is formed by about 250 large and medium-sized enterprises. It is also the largest sector in terms of the number of employees - more than 106 thousand people,” said Zinovieva, her words are quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region.

The structure of mechanical engineering in the Moscow region includes enterprises of transport engineering, power engineering, production specializing in machine tool building and metalworking, instrument making and electrical engineering, as well as enterprises that form the defense industry segment and the rocket and space unit.
