The silence regime for the repair of the power line to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant will last about a week

The silence regime introduced for the repair of the Ferrosplavnaya power transmission line, which provides power supply to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, will tentatively last about a week. This was announced by the head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, a temporary ceasefire is necessary so that specialists can carry out repair work on the damaged section of the line.

“Preliminarily, the duration of the ceasefire will be about a week,” Likhachev said.

The Ferroalloy line was damaged on August 20. After this, the station equipment, including security systems, runs on backup diesel generators.

Rosatom emphasized that the silence regime became possible thanks to the interaction of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Guard and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The International Atomic Energy Agency played a mediating role in organizing the agreements.

Repair of the line should allow the restoration of an additional source of external power supply to the station. This is especially important for the stable operation of its security systems.
