In Yekaterinburg, a three-year-old girl died as a result of falling from a window. A criminal case has been opened for causing death by negligence.

It was previously established that the child fell from the window of the apartment on the 11th floor when his mother left the apartment to do household chores.

EKATERINBURG, September 24 - RIA Novosti. A three-year-old girl died as a result of a fall from a window in Yekaterinburg; a criminal case has been opened for causing death by negligence, reports the press service of the Russian Federation Investigation Department for the Sverdlovsk Region.

“On the evening of September 23, 2026, the body of a 3-year-old girl with injuries consistent with a fall from a height was found near one of the houses on Akademika Landau Street in Yekaterinburg. In connection with this fact... a criminal case was opened under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence),” the message says.

Previously, the child fell out of the window of an apartment on the 11th floor. The girl died on the spot from her injuries.

According to the head of the press service of the GUMVD of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region, Valery Gorelykh, shortly before the tragedy, the girl and her 8-month-old brother were left alone in the apartment.

“Their mother left the apartment for some time to do household chores. For an as yet unknown reason, the minor fell from the window. Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene of the emergency collected the necessary information, which they passed on to our colleagues from the regional Investigative Committee, who are clarifying all the details of this sad situation as part of the criminal case,” Colonel Gorelykh said.
