Mariners tight end Rory and first baseman Naylor underwent surgery and are expected to return to spring training next year

[Sports Center/Comprehensive Report] According to official news from the Seattle Mariners, slugger Cal Raleigh and star first baseman Josh Naylor underwent surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center on Sunday due to left shoulder and right wrist injuries respectively, and are expected to fully recover by spring training next year.

Rory, who hit 60 home runs in a single season last year, encountered a big slump this year. Although he still produced 23 home runs in 126 games in total, his hitting measurements were only .182/.296/.368. His wRC+95 was lower than the league average for the first time since his rookie year. Naylor's performance has also declined this year. Although he still played in 152 games that matched his personal single-season high, his hitting measurements of .261/.317/.350 have dropped significantly compared to last year. His wRC+ dropped from 128 to 95, and he only had 10 home runs in the entire season. In June, he also encountered wrist discomfort and also underwent surgery to repair the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) in his right wrist.

The Mariners performed brilliantly last season and went all the way to the American League Championship Series before losing to the Toronto Blue Jays. However, they were plagued by injuries this season and ranked third in the American League West with a record of 76 wins and 86 losses.
