North Korea's Song Guk-hyang wins Asian Games gold medal with three world records in women's weightlifting class of 69kg

(Nagoya = Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Dae-ho = North Korea's weightlifting star Song Guk-hyang displayed her incredible power by breaking three world records and won the gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Song Guk-hyang won the women's 69 kg weightlifting competition held at the Small and Medium Business Promotion Center in Nagoya, Japan on the 27th by lifting 121 kg in snatch, 152 kg in clean and jerk, and 273 kg in total.

Song Guk-hyang showed off her overwhelming skills, setting new world records in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total.

Song Guk-hyang, who easily lifted 110kg in the first and 115kg in the second, set a new world record by successfully lifting 121kg in the third.

He then succeeded in lifting 140 kg in the first period in the clean and jerk, and then lifted 152 kg in the second period, simultaneously setting a new world record in the clean and jerk and total (273 kg) categories.

The gap with Taiwan's Chen Wenhui (total weight of 232 kg), who took second place, was a whopping 41 kg.

Third place went to Ingrid Grueso of Bahrain with a total weight of 229 kg.

With Song Kuk-hyang's victory, the North Korean team won its sixth gold medal in this competition.

North Korean weightlifters continued their dominance by winning gold medals and setting new world records for the second day in a row, following Ri Won-ju in the men's 70kg class the day before.

Kim Yi-seul (Suwon City Hall), who competed in the women's 77kg competition held next, lifted 110kg in snatch and 131kg in jerk and jerk, finishing in 4th place with a total weight of 241kg and failing to advance to the podium.

He Renxiu of China won the gold medal with 118kg in snatch, 140kg in jerk and 258kg in total.
