Active Agricultural Diplomacy from Türkiye against Global Crises

The repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine War, geopolitical risks in the Middle East and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continue in many areas from agriculture to energy, from food to logistics. These developments affect agricultural inputs such as fertilizer and freight globally.

Türkiye has been taking steps to prevent supply chains from being interrupted through its active agricultural diplomacy recently.

In this context, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı is holding bilateral and inter-delegation meetings with many countries and country groups, especially Russia, China and the Turkish Republics.

A FERTILIZER MEETING WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER 25

During Minister Yumaklı's visit to Russia, steps were taken to resolve the issue regarding tomatoes waiting at the border of this country. In addition, it was agreed that the teams of the two countries should act in communication on problems related to phytosanitary and quarantine procedures.

During the bilateral meetings, an agreement was reached that there would be no limit on fertilizer shipments to Türkiye this year. Relevant institutions and companies of the two countries are planned to meet again in Türkiye on October 25 to discuss the fertilizer issue.

AGRICULTURAL DIPLOMACY WITH CHINA IS GAINING MOMENTUM

China is also among the countries where agricultural diplomacy is gaining momentum. Minister Yumaklı recently hosted a delegation from China at the ministry. Export of agricultural products such as almonds, bay leaves, poultry meat and aquatic products were among the important topics of the agenda.

In his evaluation here, Yumaklı stated that relations with China will continue in the field of food and agricultural product exports and said, "Here I would like to express the importance of agricultural diplomacy and bilateral cooperation. Especially the transfer of technology, knowledge and experience will continue." He used the expression.

MINISTER YUMAKLI WILL GO TO UZBEKISTAN ON 28-29 SEPTEMBER

Minister Yumaklı is also planned to attend the 5th IAOM Eurasia Conference and Exhibition of the International Association of Flour Industrialists and Cerealists (IAOM), which will be held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, on 28-29 September.

Uzbekistan stands out as a strategically important country in flour exports with its strong milling sector and the wheat it supplies from Kazakhstan. This conference is important in this period when wheat trade is reshaped due to developments in the Black Sea basin and new trade routes come to the fore. Minister Yumaklı is expected to hold many bilateral meetings within the scope of the conference.
