Funeral events are being held in Yaroslavl on the fifteenth anniversary of the plane crash involving Lokomotiv hockey players.

The event is attended by their relatives, the head of the region, the mayor of Yaroslavl, the president of the HC, club representatives and fans.

YAROSLAVL, September 7 – RIA Novosti. Funeral events are taking place in Yaroslavl on Monday, the fifteenth anniversary of the death of Lokomotiv hockey players in a plane crash.

The Yak-42 aircraft of the Yak Service airline with the Lokomotiv hockey team on board crashed on September 7, 2011 while taking off from Tunoshna airport in the Yaroslavl region. In total, there were 45 people on the plane - 37 passengers and eight crew members. Two people survived the crash - hockey player Alexander Galimov and flight engineer Alexander Sizov, but on September 12 Galimov died from his wounds at the Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery in Moscow.

Participating in the mourning events are the relatives of the victims, the governor of the Yaroslavl region Mikhail Evraev, the president of the Lokomotiv HC Yuri Yakovlev, the mayor of Yaroslavl Artem Molchanov, representatives of the hockey club, and fans.

According to the Yaroslavl diocese, on Monday morning a memorial service for the victims was held at the Assumption Cathedral in Yaroslavl. At 14.10 there will be a memorial service at the Leontyevskoe cemetery, where 14 team players are buried.

According to the regional government, after the funeral service there will be a laying of flowers at the cemetery, and at 17.10 flowers will be laid at the Hockey Brotherhood memorial at the Arena-2000 sports complex.
