The Royal Belgian Football Association will not support the re-election of Gianni Infantino

The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) will not support the re-election of Gianni Infantino as president of the International Football Federation (FIFA), including due to the lack of clarification in the case of US striker Folarin Balogan, according to the organization's website.

During the 2026 World Cup, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee suspended Balogan's red card, which allowed him to play in the round of 16 against Belgium (1:4). Trump later said he contacted FIFA after the player was removed and thanked the organization for correcting what he called a “huge injustice.”

"The RBFA emphasizes that it cannot support Gianni Infantino's candidacy for a new term as FIFA President. The decision relates to two fundamental issues on which FIFA has to date failed to provide the necessary transparency: the FIFA Forward Enterprise case and the ongoing proceedings regarding Folarin Balogan's red card," the statement said.

The Association emphasized that it has not yet received satisfactory explanations regarding the decisions taken and the procedure for dealing with similar situations in the future. The RBFA has asked that Balogan's case be included on the agenda of the FIFA council meeting scheduled for October 15.
