이 시장은 정태호 국회 예산결산특별위원회 간사와 권칠승 더불어민주당 정책위 의장, 지역 국회의원인 송재봉·이광희·이연희 의원을 차례로 만났다.

이 시장은 내년도 정부 예산안 국회 심의를 앞두고 지역 주요 사업의 필요성과 시급성을 설명하며 국비 증액 및 반영에 협조해 달라고 요청했다.

주요 사업은 인공지능(AI)용 첨단반도체 초미세피치 플립칩 기반구축 10억원, 유전자·세포치료 R&BD 실증플랫폼 구축 89억원, 오송생명과학단지 공공폐수처리시설 증설 50억원, 상발지구·대련지구 자연재해위험개선지구 정비사업 19억원 등이다.

이 시장은 "국회 예산 심의가 마무리될 때까지 지역 국회의원은 물론 여야 정치권과 긴밀히 공조해 예산을 최대한 확보할 수 있도록 총력을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

앞서 청주시는 지난 4일 내년도 정부 예산안에 총 2조3천130억원 규모의 지역 관련 예산이 반영됐다고 밝혔다. 이는 올해(2조1천632억원)보다 6.9%(1천498억원) 늘어난 역대 최대 규모다.
