Illegal betting operation in 7 provinces: 22 people arrested

22 of the 27 suspects detained in the illegal betting operation carried out in 7 provinces, centered in Siirt, were arrested.

The procedures at the police station for 27 suspects who were detained by the Siirt Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crime of "Opposition to the Law No. 7258 on the Regulation of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions" have been completed.

22 of the suspects who were referred to the courthouse were arrested, and 5 people were released, 3 of whom were with a judicial control order.

Efforts to capture the three fugitive suspects continue.

An arrest warrant was issued for 30 suspects on October 17, within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Siirt Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crime of "Opposition to the Law No. 7258 on the Regulation of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions".

In this context, bank and crypto accounts belonging to suspects who were found to be operating illegally in the country and collecting criminal proceeds through bank accounts on illegal betting and virtual gambling sites were examined. During the examination, it was determined that there was a total transaction volume of 1 billion 498 million 377 thousand 676 liras on the accounts in 2025-2026.
