A research team at Johns Hopkins University in the United States analyzed data from 20 countries around the world and found that expanding hypertension control had the greatest effect on preventing death from cardiovascular disease. Increasing the current hypertension control rate from 20% to 80% could prevent more than 518,000 deaths per year, which is a greater effect than cholesterol-lowering drugs or diabetes management.

In an interview, Professor Hyuna Kim of the Department of Rheumatology at Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital criticized the 'medical-industrial complex', which is the combination of medicine and industry, and pointed out that expensive anticancer drugs and robotic surgery increase the burden on patients and worsen access to medical care. He was concerned about the reality that cheap and effective drugs, such as steroids, were being pushed out, and urged public discussion and the development of rational measures in medical policy.
