Chongqing Publishing makes its first overall appearance at the Spanish International Book Fair to promote cultural exchanges between China and the West

China News Service, Chongqing, September 30 (Liang Qinqing) China News Service learned from the Chongqing Municipal Government Information Office on the 30th that at the Spanish International Book Fair held in Barcelona on September 29, local time, nearly 80 Chongqing-edited high-quality books and magazines were unveiled. This is the first time that Chongqing’s publishing industry has participated in the Spanish International Book Fair with an overall image. It brings high-quality products in multiple fields such as theoretical research, Chinese culture, global history, urban narrative, etc., and officially promotes them to the Spanish-speaking European market.

This exhibition uses "product line thinking" to accurately connect Spanish readers: the multi-lingual translations of the "Six Views of Chinese Modernization" series continue to be released, the "Flow of Objects and Global History" and "First Understanding of Chinese Cultural Genes" and other series tell global and Chinese stories from a unique perspective, and "What is Chongqing" opens a window for overseas recognition with urban narratives.

Chongqing Publishing uses the book fair as a platform to turn "exhibition" into "long-term cooperation." At the Chinese and Western publishing symposium and exchange meeting, the two sides had in-depth docking around copyright import and export, joint publishing, copyright agency, and digital cultural creation. Chongqing promotes the two-way translation and introduction of Chinese and Western books, diversified business expansion, and the establishment of regular communication channels, and invites the Spanish publishing industry to visit Chongqing, so that the copyright trade can move from "signing an agreement" to the implementation of the entire chain of "translation-publishing-reading".

Zhang Qiong, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and director of the Information Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government, said that he came to Barcelona to participate in the International Book Fair and carried out a series of cultural lectures, academic seminars, interactive experiences, and copyright negotiations. He built a docking platform for Chinese and Western publishing to promote the transformation of cultural consensus into cooperation results and the implementation of exchanges of intentions into pragmatic projects. She looks forward to further promoting the two-way translation and introduction of Chinese and Western books, allowing Chinese original works to enter the Spanish-speaking world, and introducing excellent Spanish works to China.

Currently, Chongqing Publishing adheres to high-quality and international development. Chongqing Publishing House, Chongqing University Press and Southwest University Press publish an average of more than 6,000 books and more than 2,500 new books every year. Many works have won national publishing awards, and many have been rated as key national cultural export enterprises. In 2025, Chongqing will import and export 379 book copyrights.
