2026 Tibet Culture and Arts Festival tours in Taiwan with multi-ethnic musicians performing traditional Tibetan and Taiwanese aboriginal repertoire

[Reporter Ling Meixue/Reporting from Taipei] The 2026 Tibet Culture and Arts Festival is themed "Encounter in Taiwan - Resonating with the Mountains and Seas". Starting yesterday (29th), Taipei launched a concert tour of 3 places and 4 concerts, inviting international celebrities. Famous Tibetan musician Tenzin Chogyal, Tibetan singer-songwriter Longzhu Tsering in Taiwan, Paiwan popular singer Sang Meijuan, Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, Taiwan Chamber Orchestra String Quartet and global Hakka vocal opera troupe jointly performed.

Wang Shisi, Parliamentary Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, said that the Tibetan Culture and Arts Festival organized by the Mongolian and Tibetan Cultural Center has entered its 12th year. Its core significance is to demonstrate Taiwan's understanding, tolerance and respect for different ethnic groups through diversity, equality and inter-ethnic dialogue in Taiwan. I hope that all ethnic groups will one day find their own place to live in a peaceful world, and enjoy a culture and life of peace, mutual respect, and equality. This year's art festival shows more diverse possibilities in connecting ethnic cultures. When Sang Meijuan sings, you will feel that the entire natural environment, mountains and seas are singing in harmony; when Tenzin Chogyal sings, you will feel that you have also heard the echo of the children in Tibetan areas.

The Mongolian and Tibetan Cultural Center of the Ministry of Culture pointed out that this concert tour in Taipei will include Tenzin Chogyal, Longzhu Tsering, and Sang Meijuan, together with the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra and the Global Hakka Vocal Opera Troupe, bringing the traditional Tibetan musical instrument "Zhanie (six-stringed harp)" , "Linbu (bamboo flute)" and an ensemble of Western instruments, using the original sounds closest to the land, to sing the life memory of the homeland. The repertoire includes the melodious and high-pitched "Snow Lion", the gentle and tenacious Paiwan ancient ballad "Rendering", and the "Land Carrying Song" that sings the memory of the land through hard work. There is another performance today at the Taiwan Opera Center.

In addition, there will be one at the Hualien Cultural and Creative Industrial Park on October 3 and one at the Chiayi Cultural and Creative Industrial Park on October 9. Longzhu Ciren is invited to perform the joyful "Auspicious Mountain Village" and convey inner peace. Repertoire such as "The Six-Character Ming Dynasty Mantra", as well as the Taiwan Chamber Orchestra String Quartet's performance of familiar Taiwanese suites such as "Moonlight Sorrow", "Four Seasons Red", "Northwestern Rain Falling Straightly", showcase Taiwan's rich and diverse cultural heritage.
