Zeng Nenggui, a criminal suspect who fled his job as a "Red Notice Person", was extradited back to China

Beijing, September 12 (China News Agency) — Chinese authorities announced on September 12 that under the overall coordination of the International Cooperation Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group and through international law enforcement and judicial cooperation, Zeng Nenggui, a "Red Notice" fugitive and suspected official crime offender, was extradited back to China recently.

Zeng Nenggui, male, born in September 1962, is the former director of the Poverty Alleviation and Immigration Office of Ruijin City, Jiangxi Province. He is suspected of accepting bribes in poverty alleviation projects and fled overseas in January 2024. In August 2024, the Ruijin Municipal Supervisory Commission opened an investigation into his case.

In January 2026, Interpol issued a Red Notice for him. Through close collaboration with law enforcement and judicial departments of relevant countries, Zeng was arrested overseas and extradited back to China in September 2026.

A official from the Central Fugitive Repatriation and Asset Recovery Office stated that Zeng Nenggui is a typical example of unhealthy tendencies and corruption surrounding the public. His return is an important outcome of the discipline inspection and supervision organs implementing the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, as well as conducting the "Sky Net 2026" operation and intensively rectifying corruption issues concerning the public.

The official also noted that China will continue to deepen international anti-corruption cooperation, tighten the "Sky Net" for fugitive repatriation and asset recovery, and enhance capabilities to fight cross-border corruption, providing strong support to win the tough, protracted, and overall battle against corruption.
