Thailand Election Commission files petition against 77 people to Supreme Court over fraud in senatorial elections

The current incumbents are expected to be suspended from their jobs once the Supreme Court accepts the petition, and if they are found to have committed fraud, they will lose their jobs.

Regarding suspicions of fraud in the Senate election, 229 people, including about 140 incumbents, were targeted for investigation, and their ties to the conservative ruling Thai Pride Party led by Prime Minister Anutin were pointed out. If MPs close to Mr Anutin violate the law, it could shake up the government.

The election board decided on the policy at a meeting on the 14th. In addition to receiving and receiving money from incumbents and candidates, it was determined that votes were collected in exchange for benefits. Thailand's Ministry of Justice's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has also been investigating the matter since suspicions of systematic fraud have emerged.
