After receiving a report from officials who said, “A fire broke out and a lot of black smoke was produced,” the fire department said.

About 30 equipment, including pump trucks, and 80 firefighters are being deployed to extinguish the fire.

The building where the fire broke out is a two-story research building with a reinforced concrete structure and a total floor area of ​​3,080 m2, and it is believed that the fire started in an internal battery.

Uiwang City issued a disaster text message saying, "There has been a fire at Hyundai Motor Group's Uiwang Research Center, so nearby residents should move away from the accident site and vehicles should take a detour."

Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the specific cause of the fire and the extent of damage as soon as the fire is completely extinguished.
