Affected by the southwest vortex and the low-altitude jet stream, it is expected that there will be a heavy rainfall weather process from west to east in Chongqing from the evening of the 17th to the night of the 18th (18:00 on the 17th to 08:00 on the 19th), with heavy rains in the west and northeast, and heavy rains in local areas. The cumulative rainfall is 40 mm to 80 mm in the western and northeastern areas, 120 mm to 160 mm locally, and 20 mm to 60 mm in other areas; the maximum hourly rainfall is 40 mm to 60 mm, and some sites can reach 80 mm to 100 mm. Beibei, Hechuan, Wanzhou, Kaizhou, Yunyang, Fengjie and other places are high-risk areas for heavy rain disasters; Liangjiang New District, Shapingba, Banan, Tongnan, Tongliang, Dazu, Rongchang, Yongchuan, Bishan, Jiangjin, Qijiang, Changshou, Dianjiang, Liangping, Zhongxian, Wuxi, Wushan, Shizhu, Xiushan and other places are high-risk areas for heavy rain disasters.

During the Dragon Boat Festival (19th to 21st), there will be frequent showers in the central, western and southeastern areas of Chongqing. The rainfall is generally light to moderate rain, with local heavy rain (25 mm to 45 mm). The northeastern area is cloudy with scattered showers.

The Chongqing Meteorological Bureau and the Meteorological Disaster Prevention Special Committee Office suggested that during this process, some areas received heavy rainfall and the risk of heavy rain disasters was high. The hourly rainfall intensity at some sites was extreme. It was necessary to focus on preventing secondary disasters such as urban and rural waterlogging, small and medium-sized river floods, flash floods, and landslides that may be caused by heavy precipitation.
