A heart surgeon from Chekhov received six years in prison for the murder of his stepson

A Russian heart surgeon from Chekhov, Moscow region, killed his gambling stepson who attacked him to protect his family, and received six years in prison. This was reported by the Baza Telegram channel.

It is clarified that the incident occurred in March 2026 - a 29-year-old man came to his mother to ask her for money for a trip to St. Petersburg. Having received a refusal, he attacked the woman, and her 54-year-old husband Evgeniy tried to protect his wife. A stepson suffering from gambling addiction and outbursts of anger beat his stepfather until he lost consciousness.

During the scuffle, the mother ran to the neighbors to ask for help, and Evgeniy, who had come to his senses, grabbed a kitchen knife. He wanted to protect himself from his angry stepson by trying to wound him in the leg, but ended up plunging the blade into his chest.

According to the examination, the stepfather was fully aware of his actions at the time of the crime and deliberately struck precisely in this area. The version of self-defense was not accepted in court. Moreover, positive characteristics from work and the presence of a child did not help Evgeniy. After the verdict, the surgeon's wife appealed to the Human Rights Council.
