According to him, the situation with brown bears entering populated areas was discussed at an extraordinary meeting of the Republican Commission for Emergency Situations chaired by the Deputy Head of Khakassia Dmitry Buchenik.
“At the CoES meeting, they discussed the need to introduce a high-alert regime throughout Khakassia and use special means to track down the predator on approaches to populated areas in those municipal areas where the situation is tense... As of September 15, 81 brown bears have been neutralized on the territory of Khakassia,” the report says.
It is noted that the most difficult situation remains in the vicinity of Abaza. As of today, 25 brown bears have been neutralized there. Slightly fewer, 19 individuals, were caught within the framework of regulation in the vicinity of the city of Sayanogorsk and 12 in the Tashtyp district.
