Rescue operations continue for a child stuck in an 80-meter-deep well in Algeria

The Civil Protection Services announced that drilling would continue without interruption and around the clock, with the aim of reaching the child trapped inside the well while harnessing all the capabilities and means necessary to make the intervention successful.

The media officer, First Lieutenant Muhammad Oulad Al-Arabi, said that the operation continues until midday on Friday, the third consecutive day of searches for the ten-year-old child who fell into the artesian well.

He explained that the drilling operations were carried out using mechanisms and techniques approved by experts and specialists in this field, in a manner commensurate with the nature of the operation and the circumstances surrounding it.

The Civil Protection Services refuted the rumors circulating on social media about reaching the child, explaining that the operation is still continuing to this day.

Algerian media reported that the details of the incident go back to the child Ayoub falling into the well, after he passed over a plank of wood that was covering the opening of a traditional well, before the plank suddenly collapsed and the child fell inside, after which a complex rescue operation began imposed by the nature and danger of the place.

She indicated that the depth of the well into which Ayoub fell is about 80 meters, while its diameter does not exceed 40 centimetres. It is a traditional well that is not equipped with a casing tube and is filled with dirt to a depth of about 30 metres, in conditions that make direct access to the child a difficult and extremely dangerous task.
