He was 80 years old. The family held a farewell ceremony today (26th) at the Huaiai Pavilion in Taipei. Many friends from the entertainment industry were present to pay their respects. Pang Xianglin's youngest son, Pang Yunhui, walked out of the mourning hall for an interview after the public memorial ceremony. In addition to revealing that his father will be buried in Fude Cemetery with the family elders, he also revealed for the first time that the domineering and majestic "villain emperor" in front of the screen was actually a romantic and affectionate man in private.

Pang Yunhui said: "My father and my mother have known each other since the first grade of junior high school. They were childhood sweethearts." He revealed that when his mother had her hair cut for the first time in junior high school, his father secretly kept a bunch of hair that fell off and carefully kept it in his "exclusive treasure box" for more than a year. Pang Yunhui recalled with a smile that when he was in elementary school, he heard his mother mutter, "He didn't throw away anything, not even my hair." Talking about his mother's absence from the farewell ceremony today, Pang Yunhui expressed his heartache that his mother has been fighting cancer for more than two years. He, his father and brother took care of her all the way. "I think my father suffered a stroke later, and maybe the person he knew for so long and loved was seriously ill, so it was harder for her to sleep and sad." Considering that the mother's body could not bear the grief and pain of the farewell ceremony, the whole family unanimously decided to let her stay at home to rest. "We are the only mother left. I hope she has a good rest and we, the younger generation, will handle it."

When asked if his father had any last words before his death? Pang Yunhui admitted that father and son were very close. The most common thing his father said to him in recent years was "He is proud of me." Even though Mr. Pang Yunhui responded modestly, "Dad, I am not one percent as good as you." Pang Xianglin still firmly repeated, "No, the Pang family is proud of you." This unreserved fatherly love and affirmation also convinced Pang Yunhui that his father left with full peace of mind and satisfaction.

In his speech at the public memorial ceremony earlier, Pang Yunhui also shared that when sorting out his father's belongings, he accidentally discovered the lyrics of "Applause" written by Pang Xianglin himself on the back cover of a hardcover photo album. "Standing alone on this stage, hearing the applause, I feel infinite emotions in my heart." He said emotionally that this is the most profound portrayal of his father's mood, which spans from black and white to color and has been dedicated to the film and television industry for more than 50 years. Now that the curtain has fallen, Pang Yunhui shouted affectionately to his father in heaven: "Dad, your life is wonderful and complete. You can take everyone's full blessings and get off the stage to have a good rest."
