Al-Sisi’s directives came during a meeting with the Minister of Endowments, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Urban Planning, and Major General Staff Walid Arif, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.

Al-Sisi continued, according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic, “the efforts to revive Cairo’s Islamic and historical landmarks, as the Minister of Endowments reviewed the executive position to revive and restore many historical mosques and shrines, indicating that the efforts being implemented will extend to witness the opening of more integrated tourist paths to link many historical and heritage sites and monuments.”

The Minister of Endowments pointed out that upon completion of the various works being carried out related to the revival of historical monuments, the “Heart of Cairo” will become an open shrine that will attract more tourist traffic.

For his part, the Governor of Cairo referred to the efforts to revive many of Cairo’s Khedive, historical and Islamic landmarks, and to rehabilitate and develop the infrastructure in the historical areas and surrounding areas.
