A fire occurred on an Air Seoul flight from Incheon to Da Nang, presumed to have ignited an auxiliary battery.

Some passengers complained of respiratory symptoms, but there was no transport to the hospital or casualties.

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Ha-na = A fire, presumed to have been caused by an auxiliary battery ignition, broke out on an Air Seoul aircraft departing from Incheon International Airport and heading to Da Nang, Vietnam, before takeoff.

According to the industry on the 25th, a fire broke out onboard Air Seoul Flight RS511 from Incheon to Da Nang as it was preparing to take off around 9 p.m. on the 24th.

The fire started in a bag that a passenger kept under the seat, and it was confirmed that there was an auxiliary battery in a pouch inside the bag.

When the fire broke out, the crew extinguished the fire, and a fire truck was also dispatched to check the status of the fire and the health of the passengers.

Some passengers complained of respiratory problems, but fortunately they were not taken to the hospital and no significant casualties were reported.

At the time, there were 221 passengers and 7 crew members on board, and it was reported that many families were planning to travel to Da Nang for the Chuseok holiday.

Air Seoul explained that after disembarking all the passengers, the aircraft was replaced for safety checks and the flight departed about 2 hours and 50 minutes later than the originally scheduled time. There were 219 passengers on the replaced aircraft, excluding two who voluntarily gave up boarding.

Air Seoul and the fire department are investigating the exact cause of the fire, believing that the fire occurred even though the passenger took measures to prevent a short circuit in the auxiliary battery.

Air Seoul announced that it plans to make every effort to ensure safety by strengthening safety measures in the future.
