However, during the process, the man surnamed Cai resisted fiercely and drove his car into a police car. The police officers used pepper spray to restrain him and he was injured and sent to hospital. Vice Mayor of Keelung City Qiu Peilin expressed condolences on behalf of Keelung Mayor Xie Guoliang today (25th) and expressed her concern and admiration. At the same time, she understood the current needs of police equipment. She mentioned that under limited finances, she looked forward to budgeting to update police vehicles and also encouraged corporate donations.

Qiu Peilin mentioned that there is absolutely zero tolerance for drugs or drug-driving. She would like to thank the heroic police officers who stepped forward to subdue the suspects and successfully completed the task despite receiving stable training and complete equipment. Thank them for their all-out efforts in maintaining public security in Keelung.

Qiu Peilin said that the current police vehicle equipment is limited by the central renewal period and mileage. However, Keelung is not only humid and rainy, but also full of mountain roads and hillside areas, which puts a heavy strain on the vehicles. She mentioned that if finances permit, she will discuss and coordinate with Mayor Xie and the Keelung Police Department to increase the relevant budget so that the police vehicles and equipment can be safer and more powerful.

Qiu Peilin called on the Keelung City Government to accept donations from companies and replace 15 old rehabilitation buses and multiple ambulances with new ones. If companies are willing to donate police cars in the future, police cars can also be considered.
