People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet performed at the concert “Moscow. Declaration of love" in honor of the 879th anniversary of Moscow.

The concert was attended by leading theater and film artists, stars of the world ballet and opera stage, including Konstantin Khabensky, Ildar Abdrazakov, Andrey Merzlikin and others.

The musical basis of the evening was the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky and other great composers, whose works were performed by the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra and the State Academic Choir named after A. Yurlov under the direction of Yuri Bashmet.

MOSCOW, September 6 – RIA Novosti. People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet performed at the concert “Moscow. Declaration of love" in honor of the 879th anniversary of Moscow, it was attended by leading theater and film artists, stars of the world ballet and opera stage, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

City Day in the capital is celebrated on September 5 and 6 this year. Moscow turned 879 years old. The festive concert took place in the Grand Amphitheater of Zaryadye Park on Saturday evening. This year's theme is a declaration of love for the capital. People's Artists of Russia Konstantin Khabensky, Ildar Abdrazakov, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Andrei Merzlikin, theater and film actors Nadezhda Mikhalkova, Igor Gordin, Ivan Dobronravov and many others took the stage. Merzlikin noted that Moscow is for everyone a place where inspiration is born and dreams come true.

“This concert is a great joy and a reason for our creative team to gather - our large company under the leadership of Yuri Abramovich (Bashmet - ed.). For decades we have been doing various original programs, but only one day a year - Moscow City Day, when we all gather at one concert and present one number from each artist. This is a team of like-minded people and people who don’t need to explain anything. We know why we are here and what unites us. This feeling is based precisely on love for the city, for Moscow and for each other,” Merzlikin told reporters.

The musical basis of the evening was the music of the Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky and a number of other great composers. Tchaikovsky is the founder of the Moscow school of composition, whose influence on world musical culture continues to this day. As you know, the composer loved Moscow, admired the monuments of Moscow antiquity and admired the picturesque views of the Kremlin.

That evening, works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Sergei Rachmaninov, Sergei Prokofiev and Igor Stravinsky were performed from the stage. They were performed by the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra and the State Academic Choir named after A. Yurlov under the direction of People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet.

The concert was also attended by violinist, People's Artist of Russia Vadim Repin, opera singer, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Aida Garifullina, pianist Boris Berezovsky, cellist Alexander Knyazev and others. The numbers were performed by world ballet stars Svetlana Zakharova, Denis Rodkin and Eleanor Sevenard.
