Korean archery cruises through the Asian Games ranking round, setting new competition records

Kang Chae-young (Hyundai Mobis) advanced to the finals in first place by scoring 685 points out of 720 in the archery recurve women's ranking round held at the multi-purpose plaza of Okazaki Central General Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan on the 26th.

On this day, Kang Chae-young showed off her peak sense by breaking the Asian Games competition record.

Oh Ye-jin (Gwangju Bank Tenten Archery Team), who also participated, was in third place with 678 points, and Lee Yun-ji (Hyundai Mobis) was in fourth place with 677 points, putting all Korean players in the top ranks.

In the women's team ranking round, which added up the scores of the three players, Korea set a new tournament record with a total of 2,040 points, comfortably beating China (1,992 points) to take first place.

In the men's recurve, Kim Je-deok (Yecheon County Office) took second place with 693 points.

Lee Woo-seok (Kolon X1 Boys) ranked 4th with 687 points, and Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall) ranked 6th with 684 points.

Thanks to the even performance of the three players, the Korean men's national team recorded a total of 2,064 points in the team event, setting a new tournament record and taking first place, beating India (2,039 points).

The recurve mixed team ranking round, which combined the scores of Kim Je-deok and Kang Chae-young, the first place winners in the men's and women's individual events, also set a new tournament record with a total of 1,378 points, firmly maintaining its first place.

With this, Korea Recurve swept the first seeds in the men's and women's team event and the mixed team event.

Taegeuk archers continued to perform well in the compound ranking round that followed.

In the men's individual event, Choi Yong-hee (Hyundai Steel) scored 711 points and ranked third after China's Liao Jiahao and Ryu Jin-yi (712 points).

Kim Jong-ho (Hyundai Steel) and Choi Eun-gyu (Ulsan Nam-gu Office) both had 706 points, but their rankings were divided by 10 points, so they were 8th and 10th, respectively.

In the men's team event, Korea ranked second with a total of 2,123 points, following China (2,130 points).

In the women's compound individual competition, Park Jeong-yoon (Changwon City Hall) ranked 3rd with 702 points, Kang Yeon-seo (Bucheon G-Sports) ranked 4th with 701 points, and Park Ye-rin (Korea National Sport University) ranked 24th with 693 points.

In the women's team event, they ranked 3rd with a total of 2,096 points, following China and India (2,099 points).

In the compound mixed team event, where the top scorers of both men and women took part, Choi Yong-hee and Park Jeong-yoon combined for 1,413 points and were seeded for the finals in 3rd place (10 points difference), just 1 point behind India (1,414 points).
