WASHINGTON, September 24 - RIA Novosti. US President Donald Trump visibly smiled when Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China would send two pandas to Zoo Atlanta in the coming days.

Earlier on Thursday, Xi Jinping arrived in the United States on a state visit. Trump personally met the Chinese leader at the plane's exit.

After the Chinese leader arrived at the White House, Trump gave a welcoming speech, followed by Xi Jinping. The American president listened to him, sitting slightly behind on his left hand and, until the mention of pandas, almost did not react to his words. After the Chairman of the People's Republic of China announced the arrival of two pandas at the Atlanta Zoo in the United States, Trump noticeably perked up and began to smile.

Xi Jinping's first state visit to the United States took place in September 2015, when the Chinese leader visited Seattle, Washington, and New York, where he took part in a series of events to mark the 70th anniversary of the UN. After that, he visited the States in 2016 to participate in the fourth nuclear security summit in Washington, in 2017 he met with Trump at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, and in 2023, Xi Jinping visited San Francisco to participate in the APEC summit.
