The Moldovan government is ready to discuss the purchase of natural gas from the USA, Qatar, Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan.

The Parliament of Moldova introduced a state of emergency in the energy and hydrology sectors for 60 days.

The annual consumption of natural gas on the right bank of the Dniester is about 700–800 million cubic meters.

CHISINAU, September 24 - RIA Novosti. The government of Moldova is ready to discuss the purchase of natural gas from the United States, Qatar, Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan, said the head of the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, Dmitry Coric.

On September 22, the Parliament of Moldova introduced a state of emergency in the energy and hydrology sectors for 60 days.

“We will actively look for any serious additional options that can provide Moldova with cheaper gas and better conditions. The authorities are ready to consider the possibility of purchasing American, Azerbaijani, Qatari or Turkmen gas, provided that the corresponding options are legal, safe and economically beneficial for the republic,” Coric told reporters.

He emphasized that the government intends to negotiate both with other states and with producers, traders and specialists in the energy sector.

According to Coric, the annual consumption of natural gas on the right bank of the Dniester is about 700-800 million cubic meters and at current prices on international exchanges, the cost of purchases can reach 600-700 million euros. The government spokesman also added that after specific proposals emerge, the authorities will publish prices, contract terms and the results of negotiations.
