Prime Minister Han Seong-sook announces the introduction of public accident insurance for military service youth... The state pays insurance premiums

Prime Minister Han Sung-sook announced on the 3rd, "We will achieve $180 billion in SME exports by 2030."

In her opening remarks at the National Policy Coordination Meeting held at the Government Complex-Seoul that day, Prime Minister Han stated, "We will raise the target initially presented as a national task by 20%," making the remarks above.

"We will operate export programs to expand the export base not only to youth startups and small business owners, but also to region-specific enterprises," Prime Minister Han said. "We will foster promising consumer goods industries with high growth potential in the global market, such as fashion, food, and beauty devices, as next-generation K-brand strategic items."

She continued, "Utilizing the achievements of recent summit diplomacy, we will accelerate the exploration of emerging markets such as India and Brazil," and promised, "We will upgrade GoBizKorea, an export support platform utilizing AI (artificial intelligence), into an online-to-offline (O2O) comprehensive platform."

Prime Minister Han also stated, "We intend to provide necessary support from service to even after discharge so that the time spent dedicated to the country does not remain a disadvantage," adding, "We are introducing public casualty insurance for young people serving in the military."

She added, "All young people serving mandatory service will be enrolled in insurance upon enlistment, and the state will pay the premiums," and "We will guarantee diagnosis payments for fractures and amputations, as well as consolation money for mental illness, and support hospitalization and surgery costs."

At the same time, she said, "Going forward, when calculating the support age for each youth policy project, we will have the upper limit extended by reflecting the period of military service."

The meeting also discussed preparations for the launch of the Population Strategy Committee and plans for the World Korean Business Convention to be held this month.

Prime Minister Han stated, "(Now) we must also examine regional demographic imbalances, changes in household types, cross-border population migration, and labor shortages," adding, "To this end, the current Presidential Committee on Ageing Society and Population Policy will be expanded and reorganized into the Population Strategy Committee."

Regarding the World Korean Business Convention, she urged, "This year's event is led by overseas compatriots' organizations for the first time," adding, "I expect it to establish itself as a practical opportunity for our companies to enter overseas markets."

She requested, "The problems we face are becoming increasingly complex, and the number of high-difficulty problems that are hard to solve using conventional methods alone is growing. We must not remain in familiar frameworks. It is a time when a shift in thinking is needed to view the world with a broader perspective and discover new possibilities."

In addition, she promised, "The regular session of the National Assembly has begun this week. Policies cannot be completed by the government's will alone," adding, "The government will approach the National Assembly first, fully explain the intent and necessity of its policies, and listen attentively to various opinions."
